Over the course of two weeks, 397 “Gabayanews” (new Gabayanos) took on the challenge of pagtataya through Ateneo Gabay’s RecWeek: SINAG. To cap off SINAG, some 200 Gabayanews participated in this year’s GOrSem held from September 5 to 7, 2022.

This year’s GOrSem was composed of two days of asynchronous activities posted in the I ♡ Ateneo Gabay Facebook group and a synchronous Zoom session held on September 7 from 7:00-9:00 p.m..

In the opening remarks of the Zoom event, Member Formation Committee Head David Feria welcomed “Gabayanews” with a promise to be always there for them as their gabay but with it comes a challenge. “Sana’y patuloy nating bakahin ang ating mga sarili para makapag-serve nang mas maigi sa araw-araw,” Feria added.

After a plenary game, Gabay’s brief history and its different committees and offices were introduced for the Gabayanews’ guide in choosing a committee to sign up for after the event.

Former Deputy for Legislative Affairs and Scholars’ Week 2022 project head Gabby Bernardo (AB POS-MPM) shared her journey as a Gabayanoldie (Gabayano senior) while Sophomore Edward Beluso (AB MEC), who is now part of several Gabay project core teams, recounted his experience last year as a new member.

To keep festivities alive amid the online set-up, Gabay Awesome Dancers (GADs) and GaBand also graced the event.

Moreover, RecWeek X GOrSem 2022 was spearheaded by Janah Rafaela Kalalo and Carl Julian Marcelo. The program was hosted by Nath Asica and LA Tribdino.

Furthermore, the successful event would not have been possible without the help of its core team They are Overseers David Feria and Charles Opague; Programs Antwa Constantino, Carmina Alcantara, Andrea Valleza, and Robbie Bagacina; Secretariats Samantha Avila, Elimar Real, Edge Mata, and Alfred Albueg; Logistics Joshua Tirana, Tonet Francisco, CJ Bautista, and Zharimar De Luna; Creatives Alexie Aguirre, Daphne Enriquez, and Janine Montenegro; and, Finances Macoy Argallon and Art Pelingon.

These Gabayanews join the 465 retained Gabayanos to bring the organization’s member population to 862.
